Professor Leonardo Tamariz is a Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, specialising in internal medicine, cardiology and epidemiology. His research focuses on the use of biomarkers and large datasets to predict cardiovascular disease, alongside a growing programme of work on long COVID and ME/CFS.
Alongside his research, he is a staff physician at the Miami VA long COVID clinic, where he cares for patients with ME/CFS, fibromyalgia and post-COVID conditions. His interest in ME/CFS and long COVID has grown out of this clinical work, including studies into dysautonomia and its role in explaining the frequency of symptoms experienced by patients.
